B I O:
Mukta Sambrani was born and raised
in India where she taught English and worked as a journalist.
In 1999, she moved to the Bay Area where she earned her MFA in
Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. Her first
book of poems, The Woman in this poem isn't lonely was
published by Writer's Workshop, Calcutta, India. Excerpts from
Broomrider's book the dead, her long time work in progress
have appeared in Brown Critique, Kovita Review, Poetry Chain,
Verse, Em Literary, Cipactli, Fourteen Hills, Hyphen Magazine,
The Scribbler, Laundry Pen, Fulcrum and others. Mukta is the recipient
of the 2003 Audre Lorde Creative Writing Award and an honorable
mention for the Starcherone Prize.
